Ice cream is not the enemy! At least that’s what Amanda Meixner wants you to know. There’s nothing wrong with having a bowl of ice cream every now and then, but it’s all about choosing ingredients carefully and controlling the portion size of your favorite dessert, especially if you’re on a weight-loss journey.
The two pictures above may look the same, but one bowl contains 292 calories and the other has a whopping 714 calories. What gives? “This one is a tough one to spot because I actually swapped out regular ice cream for Halo Top ice cream in the lighter dessert,” Amanda wrote in her Instagram post. “That’s a great weight loss/ calorie hack the fitness community is jumping in on!”
If you’re trying to lose weight, but you just feel like you need a bowl of ice cream, Halo Top is a great choice. It’s much lower in calories, has a good amount of protein, and contains a lot less sugar. Amanda says you’re much better off opting for Halo Top instead of the traditional ice cream you find at your grocery store.
But that’s not all. What you top your ice cream with makes a big difference as well. In the bowl of Halo Top on the left, Amanda used “less processed, higher fiber toppings,” including dark chocolate and strawberries. That bowl has 11.5 grams of fiber, while the bowl on the right has only one gram. “The fiber will keep you much more satisfied,” she added.
So next time you’re craving some ice cream, keep in mind that there are plenty of healthy options out there! And be mindful of the toppings you use as well. The more natural they are the better.
